VIA Announces VX900 Media System Processor (latest news)
VIA Technologies has just sent out a press release announcing the launch of the new VX900 media system processor. This is a single-chip solution for HD video playback and online video streaming. It features the VIA ChromotionHD 2.0 video engine. It has hardware acceleration of the H.264 codec and brags smooth 1080p presentation without resorting to an additional decoder or gobbling up excess system resources.
This chip has dual-channel support for Display Port, HDMI, DVP, VGA, and LVDS/TMDS. It has H.264 and VC1 codec support. The VX800 has an integrated graphics core with DirectX 9.0 support and a 128-bit 2D engine. It uses a high-bandwidth PCI Express 2.0 interface and three single-lane PCI Express II expansion slots. There are two PCI slots and a VIA Vinyl HD 8 channel audio codec.
